Anime Festival at University of Chicago

Is winter making your inner nerd itchy? Get out of the house and come to Uchi-Con, the University of Chicago’s festival of the art of Japanese anime, January 31, and stay at the nearby and affordable Chicago Lake Shore Hotel!

Uchi-Con runs from 10 am to six pm. There will be food, all-day Karaoke (come sing your heart out!), guest speakers, contests and other neat events!

Anime, like I’m telling you anything, is the Japanese art of animated productions featuring hand drawn and computer generated figures utilizing colorful graphics and exciting themes! Anime devotees are fun to watch! Anime freaks: read on!

Have a great costume? Strut your stuff at the Cosplay Contest at 2 pm! Let your fingers do the walking in the game room! Panel discussions will run from 11-6 in the Max Palevsky Cinema. The Food Café offers wonderful noms, including Japanese and Asian food and hot beverages. The Sweets Café features delicious cupcakes, with proceeds supporting future Uchi-Cons. Cash only—please have exact change on hand, the ATM’s are blocks away, and hey, it might be snowy and the event is run by nerds. AND! Snow will not affect Uchi-Con!

Uchi-Con is being held at the University of Chicago’s Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 East 59th Street. For more information, call (773) 702-7040. Free admission.
