“42nd Street”

Come to Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre on Randolph Street to see the musical extravaganza “42nd Street” March 8-20, and stay at the nearby and affordable Chicago Lake Shore Hotel!

“42nd Street” is the Broadway smash hit that premiered in 1980. The show is filled with hit songs, lots of tap dancing, comedy and nostalgia. This “backstage musical” features unforgettable songs such as “Lullaby of Broadway,” “We’re in the Money,” “Shuffle off to Buffalo,” “I only Have Eyes for You” and the rousing “42nd Street!”

Based on the 1933 film classic directed by Busby Berkely, “42nd Street” tells the story of Peggy, a young and naive girl from the Midwest who comes to Broadway and gets her big break when the star of a show breaks her leg. Peggy fills in, and you know what that means! Peggy is a star! (This is the origin of the theatre phrase, “Break a leg.”)

There can’t be a better place to see a musical than the Cadillac Palace Theatre, with its completely restored homage to palaces in France. Originally part of vaudeville’s Orpheum Circuit, the theatre played host to such legendary stars as Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Jimmy Durante, Mae West and Sophie Tucker.

The Cadillac Palace Theatre is located at 151 West Randolph Street in Chicago’s Loop. For tickets, go online to: www.ticketmaster.com and follow the prompts.
