Chicago Hot Dog Festival

Bring the family to the Chicago Hot Dog Festival August 10-12 at the Chicago History Museum and stay at the nearby and affordable Chicago Lake Shore Hotel in historic Hyde Park!

You from out of town? You think, what’s the big deal, a hot dog is a boiled wiener on a bun with a smear of ketchup? Wrong, tourist! A Chicago hot dog is what caviar is to the French! It’s what good red wine is to California! The Chicago Hot Dog Festival will enlighten you, dazzle your taste buds, and tell you why ketchup is for fries only!

Take a steamed bun, a Vienna all-beef frank, add celery salt and hot peppers and pickle relish and pickle spears, and a line of mustard…and you got dog!

The Chicago-style hot dog is a quintessential part of Chicago’s storied history. This year we’re celebrating its premiere at the 1893 World’s Fair 125 years ago–an anniversary shared by lead sponsor, Vienna Beef! Take a bite out of Chicago history with a full line-up of bands, history, family activities and Vienna Beef hot dogs prepared in various regional and ethnic styles by the city’s top hot dog vendors.

Hot Dog Vendors: Byron’s Hot Dogs; Chicago’s Dog House; Hot Dog; Edzo’s Burger Shop; Frannie’s Beef and Catering; Robinson’s No. 1 Ribs; The Orry Lounge; and Pinstripes.
