Opera in the Park

Lovers of great singing should come to the world famous Chicago Lyric Opera’s free Opera in the Park, September 9, and stay at the nearby and affordable Chicago Lake Shore Hotel!

This fantastic evening in Millennium Park, on the shore of Lake Michigan, will be a fun event for the whole family! Opera in the Park presents Lyric Opera stars, sopranos Ana Maria Martinez, mezzo soprano Tanja Ariane Baumgartner, baritone Quinn Kelsey, bass-baritones Eric Owens and Samuel Youn, and basses Tobias Kehrer and Wilhelm Schwinghammer.

Conductor Sir Andrew Davis will lead the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus in a program of music from such renowned operas as “Carmen,” “The Magic Flute,” Eugene Onegin,” and “Lucia di Lammermoor, with other selections from operas by Gounod, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Verdi and Wagner! Lyric Opera of Chicago, one of the great opera companies in the world, was founded in 1954. The legendary singer Renee Fleming serves as the Lyric’s Creative Consultant. The orchestra is composed of seventy-four musicians, and the chorus has forty-eight members.
