University of Chicago Folk Festival

The University of Chicago Folk Festival is a must see concert series for folk music lovers. And you can literally walk to the venue, as it is just blocks away from the Chicago Lake Shore Hotel! Whether it is blues, bluegrass, Irish folk music, or European accordion music, the festival has something for everyone!

This year’s lineup features: The Buckstankle Boys, Grainne Murphy and Marta Cook, Pat & Possum, Blind Boy Paxton, Kody Norris and the Wautauga Mountain Boys, Mississippi Gabe Carter, John Lilly, and Joe Jurovski!

All day music workshops include Recorder (bring your own or we’ll lend you one), Scandinavian Dance, Yodeling for Everyone, Banjo Styles, Irish Storytelling, Morris Dancing, Alioni Georgian Choir, Irish Social Dance, Fiddle Styles, Songs from Siberia, Wiggleworms, Sea Shanty Singing, Old Time Dancing, Strictly Jug Nuts, and a whole lot more!

The University of Chicago Folk Festival evening concerts will be held at Mandel Hall, 1131 East 57th Street. The daytime workshops will be held at Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 1east 59th Street. For tickets and more information, go online to www.uofcfolk.org.
