Family Friendly Fun at the Museum of Science and Industry

One of the great things about Chicago is that there is an abundance of things to do no matter what age you are. My favorite family friendly attraction is the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI), which will delight both kids and the kids at heart. Located only a quick bus ride on the #6 or 20 minute walk from our Chicago Lake Shore Hotel, the MSI is the largest science center in the Western Hemisphere and is home to 14 acres of exhibits and hands-on experiences.

You’ll definitely learn a thing or two at the MSI, where exciting and educational activities are always presented in a captivating and compelling way. Start your exploration by visiting this Chicago museum’s website and getting a customized recommendation of what to see and do. There’s an itinerary for everyone- whether you’re a first timer or a veteran of the MSI.

An exhibit we highly recommend is Science Storms, which reveals the science behind 7 natural phenomena- lightning, fire, tornados, avalanches, tsunamis, sunlight and atoms in motion. You and the family will be amazed by the over 50 experiments you can try out that will show you the science behind nature’s power!

And if you’ll be in town October 13, 2011-January 7, 2012, your kids will absolutely love if you take them to see the Dr. Seuss and The Art of Invention exhibit. Learn more about the life and genius of Dr. Seuss, then partake in a bevy of whimsical hands-on activities that will set your imaginations running wild.

The museum is open every day from 9:30am-4:00pm. Admission varies, but if you’re an Illinois resident, every weekday from now until September 30, you can receive free admission.
