The Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival is modeled on modern European-type circuses emphasizing skills, theater, dance and music. The festival will take place in three venues, most notable the audience-friendly Athenaeum Theatre, and feature shows, workshops and community outreach programs. This is circus as serious art.
There will be thirty performances in thirteen shows including: Pedal Punk-Cirque Mechanics; Smashed-Gandidni Juggling; Knee Deep-Casus Circus; Third Coast Cabaret-Bindlestiff Family Cirkus; Ayco Showcase; The Girly Show-Bearded Lady Productions (this writer will be there!); Tossed and Found-Peter Davison; Suhde-Kate & Pasi; The Submarine Show-Slater Penny and Jaron Hollander; and Magmus Show-Magmanus Company.
