Chicago Critics Film Festival

The Chicago Critics Film Festival, the only festival of its kind in the U.S., presents a diverse group of film premieres. This year’s roster of directors includes Christophe Gans (“Silent Wolf”), Taika Waititi (“What We Do in the Shadows”), and Chad Hartigan, and features actors such as Emma Roberts, Craig Robinson, San Neill, Vincent Cassel, Nick Jonas, James Franco and Adrien Grenier.

Film Highlights: “Beauty and the Beast,” a retelling of the classic fairytale, “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” (the hit of the Toronto Film Festival), “Hunt for the Wilderpeople,”  “Life animated” (a documentary about a boy with autism), “Morris from America” (the hit of the Sundance Film Festival)and “Trash Fire” (a “super dark comedy.

There isn’t a better place to see a film than the restored Music Box Theatre, with its swirling ceiling clouds, art deco interior and large screen. The experience takes one back to another time, in a good way.
