Chicago, A great city for biking!

If you are a biking enthusiast, then you have one more reason to stay at the Chicago LakeShore Hotel, it’s close proximity to the lakeshore bike path and all the beautiful and bike-friendly paths of the University of Chicago.
Chicago has more than 200 miles of on-street, protected bike paths, 13,000 bike racks and bike parking areas at many CTA stations. There are dozens of miles of bike paths along Lake Michigan, connecting Hyde Park with the Museum Campus, the Loop, Navy Pier, Lincoln Park, and on north. If you get tired of pedaling or maybe stopped for one of those famous Chicago Pizza’s and are a little too weary to ride, worry not, Chicago Transit Authority has you covered with buses equipped with bike racks to get you safely back to your room at the hotel.
You can bring your bike on CTA trains on weekdays except during rush hour (7am-9am and 4pm-6pm) and any time during weekends and holidays (except July 3rd). You can also put your bike on the front of a CTA bus bicycle carrying rack anytime. There is no additional charge for taking your bike with you on the CTA.

Bring Your Own Bike or Rent One

The free parking our guests enjoy makes it easy to access your bike from your vehicle anytime so bringing your own bike is always a great option when staying with us.

If you don’t bring your own bike, and prefer to rent you can do so at all manner of locations. There is also the Chicago DIVY rental bike system which includes an easy to reach location a short distance from the Chicago Lake Shore Hotel. The closest DIVY to the hotel is located at the corner of Cornell Ave. and Hyde Park Blvd. or a 5 to 10-minute walk from our lobby.

If you are looking for a little more structure, some bike rental shops also offer guided Tours, one example of such a company being the famous Bob’s Bike and Hike located near Navy Pier.

There is no shortage of things you can do when biking in Chicago. Starting form our parking lot you can quickly hit the Lakeshore Bike to ride into town or simply enjoy to sunshine and fresh air. Stop and play chess or watch a movie in a park! Shop the Magnificent Mile! Explore historic Old Town, travel through the University of Chicago, tor around Wrigleyville! Play at Navy Pier or see a play! Eat at on of the many 1,000s of restaurants that Chicago is famous for.

People visiting guests of the hotel can park their bike at the Chicago Lake Shore Hotel, just across Lake Shore Drive. The hotel offers free shuttle bus service to and from the Loop area and is close to bus and train services. Bikers are always welcome and can happily stay at the Chicago Lake Shore Hotel and Bike Your Groove Thing in Chicago.
