School of Rock the Musical

Bring the family to see the hit Broadway musical “School of Rock” at the Cadillac Theatre in Chicago November 1-19, and stay at the nearby and affordable Chicago Lake Shore Hotel!

Remember “School of Rock,” the film starring Jack Black? It grossed $131 million. Well, it’s back as a stage show, it’s family friendly, it’s music heavy, and it features a mob of youngster musicians ages nine and up!

“School of Rock” the musical is the brainchild of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Julian Fellows, who wrote the PBS hit show “Downton Abbey.” The emphasis of the musical is spotlighted on the kids, more so than did the movie. The film songs are there as well as a host of new tunes written for the stage show.

Dewey Finn, kicked out of his rock band, poses as a friend and gets a job as a substitute teacher at an elementary school. Wouldn’t you know it, he discovers thirteen kids who can play rock instruments, and he forms a band and enters it into The Battle of the Bands. The kids don’t win, but Dewey gets Principle Rosalie, and they all live happily ever after.

The Cadillac Palace Theatre is located at 151 West Randolph Street in the Loop. For tickets, go online to http://www.broadwayinchicago.com/shows/ and follow the prompts.
